I thought it was high time I wrote a little bit about my journey in the travel space. Since starting Black Label Travel in 2016, I’ve written about a myriad of travel topics: destinations, trends, culture, adventure, wellness, food & wine, family, pets, even swimming pools! But I’ve never written about my personal WHY of starting my travel company or of my affinity for travel itself.
As a child, we weren’t a traveling family. Summer vacations in California were the norm or visiting relatives in the midwest. All wonderful times. I was an avid reader and reading about far off exotic places really appealed to my young soul and engendered a gypsy spirit in me. If this can even happen… I think a wanderlust gene was created in my DNA through books!
After graduating from high school, I began plotting trips. During my time at University, I experienced my first real trip abroad, living with a family in Normandy for a summer as part of my French major. I traveled through several parts of Europe that summer and have never looked back.
My WHY
I believe wholeheartedly that the best education one can receive anywhere is through travel. I have learned so much via my travels. I think everyone should travel. Period. The benefits are immeasurable. Experiencing other cultures, tasting different cuisines, hearing different languages all feed the soul in ways that can’t be quantified. In starting Black Label, I wanted to facilitate travel for others and hopefully inspire folks with a wanderlust of their own. I can’t tell you the gratification I receive from making other people’s dreams come true.
Scouting out new adventures, searching the corners of the world for that once in a lifetime experience… what’s better than that? I grow and learn every single day that I’m in this industry. It is a privilege to be your advisor and a privilege to be part of such a dynamic industry.
I hope that helps to tell you more about me and the reason I’m where I am doing what I do.
