Imagine this… with a fresh cup of steaming coffee, you set off on your morning game drive as the sun rises in the east. Your guide expertly maneuvers your Land Cruiser through the bush. Your eyes are peeled for wildlife. Your ears are acutely tuned for the sounds of the bush. Are there birds sending warning signals? Your camera is at the ready by your side. Suddenly your guide announces that there’s a lion off to the right. You scan the bush for the said lion, and finally, when you are almost upon it, you see it! Expertly camouflaged in the grasses. And this is just the beginning of your morning game drive.
Surprises abound on safari. It is an experience like no other. The word ‘safari’ means ‘journey’ in Swahili. And a journey it most certainly is. Not only by traveling physically through game reserves in your Land Cruiser, but it is also a journey into your soul. Seeing wildlife in its natural habitat with your own eyes is vastly different than watching documentaries on the National Geographic channel. National Geographic among many others are excellent resources to educate us on various reaches of the globe. But witnessing Mother Nature firsthand… is life changing.
What are you waiting for? There is no better time to fulfill your dream of going on an African safari than now! Tourists aren’t there in droves yet and chances are you will have the bush all to yourself. You can go on traditional Land Cruiser safaris, walking safaris, equestrian safaris. Consider adding a hot air balloon or helicopter excursion. It really adds to your perspective.
Maybe you’ll get lucky and see all of the 5’s! The big 5, the small 5, the ugly 5, and the impossible 5. Can you name them all?
